In a certain display area, the ratio of the number of lines that are simultaneously lit to the number of lines in the entire area is called the scanning mode. Indoor single and double color led display is generally 1/16 scan, indoor full color led display is generally 1/8 scan, outdoor single and double color led screen is generally 1/4 scan, outdoor full color led screen is generally static scan.

At present, the driving mode of the LED display screen on the market includes static scan and dynamic scan. Static scan is divided into static real pixels and static virtual. Dynamic scan is also divided into dynamic real image and dynamic virtual. The driving device generally uses domestic HC595, Taiwan MBI5026, Japan Toshiba TB62726, generally has 1/2 scan, 1/4 scan, 1/8 scan, 1/16 scan.


For example, a commonly full color led module pixel is 16*8 (2R1G1B). If it is driven by MBI5026, the total module used is:

16*8*(2+1+1)=512, MBI5026 is a 16-bit chip, 512/16=32

(2) If 16 MBI5026 chips, it is dynamic 1/2 scan virtual

(3) If 8 MBI5026 chips, it is dynamic 1/4 scan virtual

LED modules are scanned in 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and static. How to distinguish? One of the easiest ways to do this is to count the number of LEDs on the led module and the number of 74HC595s.


Calculation method: the number of LEDs divided by the number of 74HC595 divided by 8.


The real pixel corresponds to the virtual pixel: the real pixel means that each of the three red, green and blue light-emitting tubes constituting the LED display finally participates in imaging of only one pixel to obtain sufficient brightness.


The virtual pixel is a software algorithm that controls the LED of each color to finally participate in the imaging of a plurality of adjacent pixels, so that a larger resolution can be achieved with fewer lamps, and the display resolution can be quadrupled.


Pay attention to the number of ICs in a single module. The static driver ic controls 16 points. If a single module is 32*16 points, there are only 8 ics in it, then 32*16/16/8=4, that is, 1/4 scan.


LED display scanning method classification

Scan mode: The ratio of the number of lines lit at the same time to the number of lines in the entire area in a certain display area.


1. Static scan:

Static scanning is to perform "point-to-point" control from the output of the driver IC to the pixel. Static scanning does not require a control circuit, and the cost is higher than dynamic scanning, but the display effect is good, the stability is good, the brightness loss is small, etc. advantage.


2. Dynamic scanning: dynamic scanning is from the output of the driver IC to the pixel point to implement the "point to column" control, dynamic scanning requires a control circuit, the cost is lower than static scanning, but the display effect is poor.


According to the environment:


Indoor single and double color is generally 1/16 scan, indoor full color led display is generally 1/8 scan, outdoor single and double color is generally 1/4 scan, outdoor full color led screen is generally static scan.


According to the product model:


1. Scanning mode of indoor full color LED display: P4 and P5 are constant current 1/16, P6 and P7.62 are constant current 1/8.

2. Scanning mode of outdoor full color LED display: P10 and P12 are constant current 1/2 and 1/4, and P16, P20 and P25 are static.

3. single and double color LED display scanning mode is mainly constant current 1/4, constant current 1 / 8 scan, constant current 1 / 16 scan.

1/4 scan: Under the same conditions, the brightness of the 1/4 scan display is only half of the brightness of the 1/2 scan display, suitable for semi-outdoor and indoors. The way to control it is to increase from two LEDs of 1/2 to four LEDs. The current is scanned between 4 LEDs.
